YACHTING CUP RACES
MAY 4TH AND 5TH, 2002

The Yachting Cup was a challenge to pull off this year, but CIA
got out there and at least made a go of it. Russ was unable to come down
with a baby due that weekend. Steve and Stacey's wedding also happened
that weekend and Kevin and Michelle were also committed to that. Peter
came down, though, and enough crew was assembled. Unfortunately, Tony got
injured during the Friday practice and couldn't race. Others also
succumbed to injuries, but we still managed to get out and race.

Here are Peter's notes from the races:
Although we scrambled for
crew, we were able to put together some terrific people and I think we all had
great days on the water. Perhaps not the best of results, but we sailed
reasonably well and definitely picked up some more great experience.
For Saturday, we sailed an outstanding first race, initially beating of the
other Beneteau's, but getting caught up in the end. From there, unfortunately we
got worse instead of better.
But for Sunday, we learned how to see into the kelp hole, (thanks to a
handy-dandy mirror) and also mixed up some of the crew assignments for fun.
Scott had a great day up on foredeck for his first time, and we were able to
coax Amy and Dave out of their beds at the last minute to come out and go
sailing.
